The Punjab Government has provided a sum of Rs. 5 lac for holding Primary School games from 21st, February to 23 February, 2014 in which 2904 students of Government Primary Schools of the State will participate. Besides about Five hundred disabled students under Eleven, Fourteen, Seventeen and Nineteen Years would also take part in these games. Mr. Sikander Singh Maluka, Education & Language minister Punjab has said that this is the first time that disabled students from all over the state will participate in the Primary School Games. Minister further said that all the District Education Officers have been directed to send the list of selected students along with requisition of sports kits, shoes etc by 31st January, 2014 to the Head Office, so that proper sports kits could be provided to all the students. Minister also said that Rs. 125/- per day will be provided to every participant students for diet and arrangement for travel of the students will be made by the Assistant Education Officers (sports) of the concerned district. All the participant will be awarded with the certificates and the winners will get trophies. The Minister further said that the government is taking keen interest to encourage the students from the primary level to take active part in sports and games.
