Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon, today inaugurated a plantation drive in Kulgam by planting a chinar sapling at the Deputy Commissioner office.The plantation drive was organized by the district administration with the collaboration of department of Forest, Floriculture and Social Forestry. The Div Com also planted different varieties of tree saplings at Government Higher Secondary School Kulgam, where he also interacted with the students of the school and distributed cash prize of Rs 2000 each among 14 students of the school for their outstanding performances in academic and co-curricular activities.
Dr. Samoon also visited Cholgam Kulgam where he inspected different stalls set up by departments of Agriculture, Horticulture, Floriculture, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, Handicrafts and Handlooms where he directed the concerned officers to create awareness among the general masses about the different welfare schemes of the government particularly related to agriculture.Meanwhile, the Divisional Commissioner had a detailed discussion with Chief Executive Officer Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) via video conferencing about the arrangements put in place for the smooth conduct of upcoming yatra 2016 and reviewed arrangements with the DC Kulgam about preparations of district Kulgam and Anantnag, regarding the Yatra.
