Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta Wednesday said various flagship programmes like Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao, Laadli Beti and SABLA are being implemented in the state for the welfare of the women folk.The Speaker was addressing an awareness camp at Raipur, Satwari organised by State Mission Directorate, ICDS J&K.The camp was organised to create awareness among the people about various women welfare schemes launched by the state and central governments.The Speaker felicitated the organisers for launching such mass awareness campaigns and urged the concerned that such programmes should be conducted at village level to yield greater benefits. He also exhorted upon the officers to work with dedication and sincerity as working in social welfare sector is a missionary job.

Speaker said that the schemes initiated from time to time for the welfare of women could yield effective results only when there is complete eradication of illiteracy among the women. He said illiteracy and unawareness among the women is the root cause of the difficulties faced by them.Mr. Gupta said the women have been playing a vital role in every field. He asked them not to feel shy in coming forward for seeking their rights.Referring to the demands put forth by the Anganwadi Workers, the Speaker said he will write to the concerned authorities for timely release of salaries of Anganwadi Workers. He also assured them that their other genuine demands will also be brought to the notice of concerned authorities.Later, the Speaker gave away financial assistance to some orphan girls.On the occasion, a local representative gave cash reward of Rs 1000 to the ICDS worker who performed best awareness skit.Earlier, Child Development Programme Officer (CDPO), Satwari, Rajeev Kumar gave the details about the different schemes besides functioning of the department.CDPO, Marh, Dr Manmeet Kumar, Tehsildar, South Jammu, Mr. Johny Kumar, Supervisors, Anganwadi Workers, local representatives and a large number of people attended the camp.
