Advisor to Governor, Khurshid Ganai, today chaired a high level review meeting of senior officials of Irrigation & Flood Control Department.The Advisor directed the executive engineers to personally monitor the water canals, water lift stations and study the drought prone areas so that farmers don’t face any kind of problem regarding their agriculture lands. He asked the officials of essential services to remain vigilant round the clock and keep adequate machinery available so that water logging due to incessant rains is checked.During the meeting, Chief Engineer Irrigation & Flood Control, Javed Jafar, informed about major and minor schemes of irrigation for agricultural lands in Kashmir besides discussing new schemes.The Chief Engineer further informed the Advisor that the department has 18 schemes for flood management, of which, 11 are completed and six are under process. He said directions have been passed to officials to monitor the water level in different spots of Jhelum river on hourly basis. There is no need to panic as the department is fully prepared to meet any eventuality, he added.All the executive engineers and other senior officials Irrigation & Flood Control were present in the meeting.
