Laying emphasis on broad-basing cultural activities, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Dr. Asgar H. Samoon today lauded efforts of J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages for promoting linguistic plurality of the State.“The Academy as a premier cultural institution has been doing a fine job and we intend to see it broadbase its activities so as to cater to the aesthetic sensibilities of every segment of the society,” Dr. Samoon said.He was addressing poetry lovers at Government Degree College Hajin Saturday where a district level mushaira was arranged by J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages as part of its outreach events.Responding to the observations of the speakers, Secretary Academy, Dr Aziz Hajini said that the Academy had been giving due space to every segment of the society and literary events like today’s were part of such endeavours.

“Admittedly, poetry has the capacity to absorb parlance of many languages. That is the reason why we routinely hold poetic symposia so as to afford opportunities of expression to versifiers of every shade,” Dr. Hajini said.Among others Director Horticulture, Talat Parvez, Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Sajad Hussain, Director Education Kashmir, Dr. Shah Faesal, and Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Aijaz Ahmad were present.Poets who recited their poetic collection at the mushaira included Sonaullah Niyaz, Ghulam Hassan Taskeen, Sagar Sarfaraz, Gul Tanveer, Mohammed Munawar Parvana, and Qadir Naidkhayee. The poetic sitting was presided over by noted versifier Ismail Aashna. As part of the event a book titled “Lol-e-Naar” by Abdul Qadir Naidkhayee was also released. (KNS)
