With inauguration of a unique CCTV surveillance program by Mr. Arpit Shukla, IGP/Zone-2, Jalandhar the important city of Doaba, SBS Nagar has became 1st smart city of the region. 64 cameras installed under this to cover each moment of all the vital areas would ensure a comprehensive & round the clock (24x7) security cover in Nawanshahr city area. Besides this, an ultra modern control room has been set up at SSP office to monitor the feed of these cameras and further coordinating with PCR for prompt response.Speaking on the occasion, IGP Mr. Shukla underlined the need for intelligent usage of available technology for keeping close vigil and further investigation. He said that soon the other districts of Jalandhar Zone -2 would follow this initaitive. Congratulating SBS Nagar SSP Mr. Snehdeep Sharma and his team for this e-surveillance initaitive, he also appreciated  the efforts & co-operation  of the Nawanshahar public & municipal corporation for setting up of the project and described it as a perfect example of police-public cooperation. 

Mr. SK Kalia, DIG/Range Ludhiana expressed confidence that the modern police control room will act as the nodal centre for all the information& helpline queries pouring in through digital/wireless route. “ By bringing the helpline & electronic surveillance mechanism together the SBS Nagar police aims at providing more effective, efficient & timely service to the residents of SBS Nagar”, he added. He also appreciated the support extended by the people of city for the project.          

Earlier speaking on the occasion, Mr. Snehdeep Sharma, SSP informed that the number of cameras will be soon increased from 64 to 96, there by bringing almost every nook and corner of city under e- surveillance. He said that earlier there were 7 PCR motorcycles working round the clock in Nawanshahr area and the entire area of city was divided into 7 beats & each beat area was monitored by the respective beat PCR mobile team. 5 more PCR motorcycles have been incorporated into the PCR mobile team, thereby increasing the number of mobile teams to 12. “On receipt of information from police control room, the police personnel manning PCR vehicles will promptly & proactively provide assistance to the local police in accident cases, incidents of law & order, traffic problems etc.”, he added.He pointed out that CCTV surveillance paired with PCR mobile team will lead to immediate response, effective decision making, easy accessibility, high visibility, guarding scene of crime till arrival of force from respective PS/PP, clear communication& proactive approach in tackling crime and other police situations. “Since the installation of cameras, the city police has started getting the real time information of incidents which is helping them to analyse the situation in a better & transparent manner.

To mention, during the pre-launch trial period one motorcycle theft case was cracked with the help of cctv footage, the accused was arrested and 10 more motorcycles were recovered from him. Thus the CCTVs are turning out to be police saathi”, he added.It may be mentioned here that the helpline numbers viz Women helpline-1091, Child helpline-1098, Dial 100, Dial-181 provide public an uninterrupted 24x7 access to the police control room. The call on helpline is attended to immediately by control room staff which is further transmitted to related PS & appropriate remedial action is taken by respective PS/PP staff.E-Communictaion of district via Email is manned by the officials operating at Email Net. Entire information which is received & disseminated via Email to and from the district is monitored & controlled by this staff. For this purpose two Email IDs are available i.e. dpo.nsr.police@gov.in & ssp.nsr.police@gov.in It helps in quick dissemination and receival of interdistrict and intradistrict information.
