The 6th State Apex Committee for Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) headed by Chief Secretary, B R Sharma Tuesday reviewed the status of implementation of CCTNS project in the State.Director General, Police, K Rajendra, Principal Secretary Home, R K Goyal, Commissioner Secretary Finance, Navin K Choudhary, Commissioner Secretary IT, Technical Education, YSS, Hirdesh Kumar,  IGP State Crime Branch Munir Khan other senior officers of police and home department, representatives from NCRB, MHA and BSNL were present in the meeting.CCTNS is a mission mode project under the national e-governance programme aimed at creating a comprehensive and integrated system for enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of policing.In J&K as many as 251 sites have been commissioned under the CCTNS project including 158 Police Stations and 93 Higher Offices. As many as 29,566 police personnel have been technically trained under the project.

With regard to data migration and application integration, the Committee was informed that out of 2.48 lakh records of 10 years, 1.87 lakh records already migrated from legacy applications of CCIS (Crime and Criminal Integration System) and CIPA (Common Integrated Police Application), while as record from manual registers is being typed and digitized.  As many as 119 Police Stations are actively feeding data and all police stations are communicated to lodge FIRs through CCTNS. This also includes daily diary, FIR, case diary, crime detail form, arrest memo, etc. As on 29.02.2016, as many as 4.5 lakh daily diary entries have been made in CCTNS, while as 13925 FIRs, 621 case diary entries have been fed in CCTNS.

Chief Secretary on the occasion called for accelerating the implementation process and removing bottlenecks hindering its timely completion. He said modernization of the state police apparatus is necessary to handle large amount of information and huge volume of records adding that it will help in the overall improvement of service delivery mechanism of our police force.DGP while speaking on the occasion said that CCTNS is an ambitious project which needs to be made operational at the earliest and added that it will help link police stations not only in the state but across the country.In addition, it was informed that J&K Police is soon going to launch a Citizens Portal whereby citizens can avail various public services.
