Gian Jyoti Group of Institutions celebrated International Women Day   at its Campus .  Bibi Paramjit Kaur Landran Chairperson Punjab State Women Commission & Reeta sharma renowned journalist presided over the function.While motivating the youngsters    Paramjit kaur Landran said that women are playing an important role in the society whether as a mother, sister, daughter, wife besides working women is a multi-tasking lady. According to her Women’s Day should not be celebrated merely as a ritual. This occasion should be used to awaken the society to the evils and atrocities which are meted out against women under the patriarchal set ups. Women had to realize their potential and become key players in the social change.

Journalist Reeta sharma said at the moment that every individual should love, respect and appreciate women in their lives. According to her the first National Women’s Day was like a political event but it has bring a positive change in gender equality.While encouraging the students Chairman J.S.Bedi said that all of us understand that men and women are two wheels of the same vehicle. Both are complementary to each other .In recent years women had taken giant strides to excel in almost all fields of positive activities. According to him gender equality is very important for a healthy society. Education of girl child is bringing result in overall development of nation .He also gave information about rights of women given in constitution and urged that girls should know their right to defend themselves and also be careful against cyber-crimes against women. According to him women should be alert and try to learn the body language of the strangers around them for their own safety and protection.
