Police constitute team to trace missing youth

Police Monday said that they have constituted a special team of police officers to trace missing youth Reyaz Ahmed Beigh. “We have already called three suspects for questioning and even have been seeking details from the relatives of the missing youth,” ASP Bandipora Muhammad Yousuf Chowdary told CNS.He said the special team is headed by SDPO Sumbal and the SHO’s of Police Stations Sumbal and Hajin are part of the team. “We also contacted Airport authority to seek details about the person’s who have left Kashmir from March 4, the day when Reyaz went missing,” he said and added that all efforts are on to trace him.ASP Bandipora added that The mobile numbers possessed by missing youth are being analysed and three suspects with whom the missing youth has last made contacts are in police station for questioning.

Meanwhile, this mysterious disappearance sparked shutdown and protests for the consecutive second day in Sumbal area of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district while scores of people from Wangipora Sumbal arrived here in Press Enclave and staged massive demonstration impressing upon police to locate the missing youth Reyaz Ahmed Beigh 28 who according to them is untraceable since March 4 this month.Reyaz Ahmed (28), son of Abdul Ahad Beigh, a resident of Wangipora was reported missing on Friday. The protesters blocked Bandipora -Srinagar highway near Sumbal Bridge, disrupting the traffic movement. Top police official rushed to spot to pacify protesters. They assured protesters that all efforts are on to trace the missing youth. Reyaz, the protesters said, worked as a distributor with Aircel Communications and was general secretary of Chinar Traders Association Sumbal.

All the shops and business establishments remained shut in Sumbal, Naninara, Shilwat, Inderkoot, Wangipora and other adjacent areas. The call for shutdown was forwarded by Traders Federation Sumbal.Meanwhile, the family members and locals protested in Press Enclave Srinagar. Carrying the photographs of the missing youth the protesters especially females burst into tears and requested police to expedite the probe. “The disappearance of Reyaz has been giving us sleepless nights. We are scared and want police to trace him without any delay,” said one of the female protesters adding that both the mobile numbers 9797815072 and 9858988893 that Reyaz used are switched off.
