While reacting to senior Congress leader and former Union Home Minister P Chidambaram’s assertions on hanging of Mohammad Afzal Guru, Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) president and MLA Khansahib Hakim Mohammad Yasin today said it has proved Kashmiris right that Afzal Guru was innocent.In a statement to KNS Hakim Yasin said, “Why Chidambaram remained mute spectator when Afal Guru was hanged. He was an important minister in Congress led UPA Government. If he now says that the case was not correctly decided and the degree of involvement of Afzal Guru was not correctly assessed, what stopped him saying so when he was Home Minister and Guru’s mercy plea was sent to him?”Asking the Congress leader not to play politics over the issue, he demanded that a judicial probe should be held as to why Afzal Guru was hanged.
The PDF chief also lashed out the Center government for implicating former Delhi University Professor SAR Geelani and arresting him. “Why has been SAR Geelani arrested. It seems he is being made another Afzal Guru as he has done nothing unlawful for which he has been arrested.”Meanwhile, the MLA Khansahib asked the state government to immediately redress the problems of people who are facing crisis due to the implementation of National Food Security Act (NFSA). “Either the government should revoke this Act or amend it so that the genuine concerns of people are taken care off. The implementation of the NFSA has created food crisis in Kashmir and people are on roads protesting against it,” he said.Hakim Yasin appealed the Governor NN Vohra to look into the issue and immediate provide relief to the people.
