Education   and Language Minister Punjab  Sikander Singh Maluka has stated that the State Government will promote Sports in all the government Schools in the State from the primary level by organizing Zonal level and State Level tournaments. A State level tournament for all the primary Schools will be organized on February 21st to February 23rd, 2014 at Jalandhar.Education Minister also disbursed sports funds amounting to Rs. 75.20 Lac to Seven Senior Secondary Schools of Ludhiana, Patiala, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Amritsar and Sangrur for the development of Sports in the Schools. Minister further said that Punjab government has decided to grant additional marks to those schools students achieving first three positions in State, National, Inter-National Level Schools games.  Such students would get 15 marks for their State Level School games achievements and 25 marks for their National as well as International achievements.Minister further said that Govt. was committed to provide all out facilities to promote sports and encourage the students to take part in games from Primary level so that budding talent could be nourished properly.  He said that Sports would be included as Compulsory subject in government schools of Punjab.
