A day after a Gujjar protester was allegedly killed in police firing in Sarore area of Samba district; the locals in the area on Tuesday laid the dead body of Gujjar protester on the main road for more than four hours and blocked the National Highway in the area. The locals were chanting slogans against the police officials involved in the killing of Gujjar identified as Muhammad Yaqoob. They were demanding that the case should be registered against the accused official. The protesters while talking to KNS over phone said that Station House Officer (SHO), Bharast Sharma intentionally killed Yaqoob during an anti-demolition drive in the area. “An FIR should be lodged against the accused so that the action would be taken against him,” he said. The protesters said that they don’t want any compensation from the authorities but the only thing they are demanding is to register a case against the accused official.

“Until our demands won’t met, we will not allow traffic to ply on National Highway,” the angry protesters said.
