Hundreds of Youth Congress workers led by Sunny Kanith, Vice President, Ludhiana Lok Sabha today gheraoed at Deputy Commissioner office, Mini Secretariat, Ludhiana. Youth Congress President Sunny Kainth suffered injuries during a lathi charge done by Ludhiana Police on youth congress activists protesting against the Govt. here at DC office.Senior Congress leaders Pawan Dewan, Rakesh Pandey, Gurmail Pehalwan lashing down heavily on the wrong policies of SAD-BJP Govt. said that this so called Akali-BJP Govt. is the worst Govt. ever in the history of Punjab. The Akali-BJP Govt. is failed on all fronts. Their wrong policies have made the life of a common man hell. The demonstrators were raising slogans against the failures of the government. They pointed out, the Akali-BJP had made huge promises like providing jobs, providing round the clock electricity, free laptops and other things. “They have not fulfilled a single promise during the last nine years”, said Pawan Dewan while addressing the dharna.

During the tenure of this Govt. all the communities have been ruined including farmers, youths, businessmen, industrialists. Where are the tablets which were promised to be given to the students? What about unemployment allowances of Rs. 1000 per month? Is Rs. 500 per month (old age pension) is sufficient for a person to survive? Dewan questioned Sukhbir Badal.Dewan said, the industry was closing in the state while the farmers were committing suicide. The situation in Punjab was never so bad and it was going from bad to worse. “Our Deputy Chief Minister is only trying to sell false dreams like running buses on water”, Dewan said, while pointing out that the condition of roads was such that even bullock carts cannot move on these and Sukhbir was dreaming of running buses on water.

Subsequently, hundreds of activists were detained by Ludhiana police to prevent them from carrying out their plan. Heavy police force was deployed at DC office. To stop the agitators the police lathicharged. Kainth said they will continue their agitation till the Pb.
