Presiding over the joint meeting of the Hurriyat (M) General Council and Working Committee at Hurriyat (M) Headquarters at Rajbagh, Hurriyat (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq discussed in detail the present political situation, ongoing resistance movement and various organizational matters with the leaders of all the constituents of the amalgam, who participated in the meeting.Terming the ongoing political and human rights situation in Jammu Kashmir as a matter of extreme concern, the conglomerate’s leadership, during the meeting, decided to hold a state-wide session of senior Hurriyat leaders, activists and delegates on Thursday, 25 February, 2016 at the Hurriyat (M) Headquarters at Rajbagh in which all constituents of APHC would participate and discuss threadbare various issues pertaining to the present political situation and ongoing resistance movement and chalk out the future programmes and course of action of the amalgam.

During the joint meeting, the Hurriyat (M) leaders observed that continuous delay in the resolution of Kashmir issue would continue to pose threat to the permanent peace in the region and without the resolution of this issue the establishment of peace and end of violence in the region are not possible. It was further observed that the clouds of uncertainty and insatiability would continue to hover over Indo-Pak subcontinent and entire South Asia until Kashmir issue was resolved by involving the main stake holders, i.e. Kashmiris, in a meaningful dialogue process and by resolving it as per the wishes and aspirations of people of the Jammu and Kashmir.Reiterating that it was due to an unresolved Kashmir issue that the nuclear neighbours India and Pakistan continued to have hostile relationship for the past seven decades, the conglomerate leaders said the life and economic prosperity of the crores of people of not only the subcontinent but the entire South Asia was at stake due to these hostilities.

Stressing that a peaceful and a long-lasting settlement of Kashmir issue alone could help create violence free and a peaceful atmosphere in the entire region, the Hurriyat (M) leaders urged Indian and Pakistani political leadership for taking real Kashmiri leadership into confidence while holding a dialogue for the resolution of Kashmir issue.Expressing anguish over the growing intolerance in India, the amalgam leaders said it was the outcome of nurturing of rightwing extremist ideology and blamed them that it was extremely dangerous to compare this extremist chauvinism with patriotism and nationalism, which could give rise to a very complicated situation. The Hurriyat (M) leaders also paid rich tribute to the victims of Kunan Poshpora mass rapes and expressed solidarity with the victims and their families on the 25th anniversary of this malicious criminal and inhuman incident.

They said the victims were yet to receive justice as the culprits were yet to be booked and stressed that the testimonies of the victims and their families should be an eye-opener for the international community and Rights Bodies.Appreciating the valor and patience of the victims, the Hurriyat (M) also decided to organise various programmes on February 23 as a part of 'Youm-e-Tahafuz Khawateen'.The programs would highlight various aspects of this shameful act perpetuated by the Indian Army personnel and try to spread awareness among the international community about the incident.
