Drabu meeting Rajnath for safety of Kashmiri students

“All students are safe in JNU’

Amid looming fears over safety of Kashmiri students in New Delhi in the wake of situation in Jawaharlal Nehru University, Peoples Democratic Party (Sunday said that they will approach Home Minister, Rajnath Singh, to ensure safety of Kashmiri students studying in Delhi and other states of India.While talking to KNS over phone from New Delhi, former Finance Minister and legislator from Rajpora Assembly segment, Dr Haseeb Drabu said that all the Kashmir students studying in JNU was safe.“More than hundred Kashmiri students are studying in JNU. They are all safe and don’t not have any kind of threat. I am going to meet Home Minister, Rajnath Singh JNU issue and safety of Kashmiri students will be raised,” he said.

Drabu said that the meeting with Home Minister is slated to be held on Sunday late evening or on Monday.“I also talked with Kashmiri students in JNU and spent almost an hour with them. I assured the students that the problems faced by them will be redressed,” Drabu said.PDP President Mehbooba Mufti in her address to party workers during a membership drive said she has sent Haseeb Drabu and Prof Amitabh Matoo to JNU to see the situation and safety of the Kashmiri students.Kashmiri students in New Delhi and their parents back home have been worrying about their safety following the arrest of JNU students leader, Kanahaiya Kumar, and the Delhi police’s crackdown and questioning of a Kashmir students for protesting against the hanging of Afzal Guru on his third anniversary of February 9.
