Legislator Engineer Rasheed has hailed various student organizations including DSU, AISF and SFI for expressing solidarity with the suppressed people of J&K by raising their voice against the judicial murder of Afzal Guru and Maqbool Bhat. In a statement issued today he said that despite the objections by state patronized right wing ABVP, the students and scholars cutting across caste, creed and religion protested against the killings and supported right to self-determination for Kashmiris. He said, “The national media and some communal forces need to understand that people of J&K are not seeking a resolution to the dispute on religious lines but believe J&K to be a political dispute that has not only made life of Kashmiris a hell but has become a nuclear flesh point in the sub-continent. Sooner or later majority of Indians will realize the dividends of resolution of Kashmir. Let those debating on national media not make a fool of themselves and try to hide the truth by calling these brave hearted secular scholars and students as anti-nationals. Let there be no doubt that those who raised voice for Kashmiris at JNU are patriotic Indians and know that it is not Kashmiris, but illiteracy, poverty and other basic issues are the real enemies of people of India.” (CNS)
