National Conference Tuesday said that it is a ‘misconception’ and a ‘word spread by Indian agents’ in Kashmir that Omar Abdullah was part of New Delhi’s conspiracy to execute Muhammad Afzal Guroo.“Only thing Omar Abdullah was told to take care of law and order problem in Kashmir. Then Home Minister of India Sushil Kumar Shinde phoned Omar and informed him that Afzal Guroo will be hanged and he is supposed to take care of law and order problem,” Kamal told CNS and added that Indian agents working for different Indian agencies later on spread this rumour that Omar was responsible for the execution of Guroo.He said India was and will never be sympathizer of people of Kashmir.
Right from 1947, people of Kashmir have been suffering at the hands of India. Today Indian Civil Society has been admitting that Guroo’s execution was a miscarriage of justice. Despite having no direct evidence, Guroo was hanged and India itself slapped on the face of its democracy by denying mortal remains to the family,” Kamal said.“Half of India’s military force has been deployed in Kashmir to suppress the voice of people. Not speaking of a common Kashmiri, even the then Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was not taken into confidence and despite his repeated pleas Central Government hanged Muhammad Afzal Guroo. Omar Abdullah had requested Centre Government to award life imprisonment to Guroo,” he said and added that Indian democracy is in vogue only in other states of India while in Kashmir it has been always trampled.
