Chairman All Parties Hurriyat Conference Syed Ali Geelani on Saturday condemned invoking of lawless law Public Safety Act against Tehreek-e-Hurriyat leaders, activists and repeated police raids on the residence of District President Srinagar and Gandarbal Raja Mehraj-ud-din and termed arrest of youth and students from the villages and towns as worst kind of state terrorism.Just before leaving for Delhi, Geelani in a video message said that “the process of unwanted and unnecessary arrests by the government have spread a wave of terror among the common masses and it is beyond the understanding of anyone that what actually they want by doing such things”.

He said, “the police since last one and a half month have started a fresh arrest process in which the common youths and students are taken into custody on regular basis while as the Tehreek-e-Hurriyat is at prime target”.About a dozen leaders of this organization have been booked under this black law PSA so far and the residences of many activists are often raided by the police, he said. “On Saturday morning, the police personals of Nowgam police station raided the residence of senior Tehreek-e-Hurriyat leader and central official Raja Mehraj-ud-din Kalwal. Although he was not present at home at that time but the police raids on daily bases is badly affecting the mental health of his children and they feel extreme harassment which is also affecting their studies,” he added.

While demanding immediate halt to this process, Geelani said that “this process will have serious consequences and it will also increase the political uncertainty and instability in the state”.While addressing the policy makers of India, Geelani said that “the policy makers should think with cool mind over their policy with regarding to the Kashmir since 1947 and they should calculate what they have achieved by doing all this”.Neither has the nature and the status of Kashmir issue changed over these years and nor could they succeed in changing the hearts and minds of the people of this troubled region. He further said that “Kashmir is a human issue and it cannot be addressed or fixed by using force or power”.The use of force never solves the issue instead it worsens the situations and this policy is becoming a big hurdle in the development and prosperity of India itself.
