Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta today convened a high level meeting of officers of Police and Civil Administration to review the traffic scenario in Jammu City.Legislators, Rajesh Gupta, Ramesh Arora, Charanjeet Singh Khalsa, Ms Priya Sethi were also present in the meeting. They also gave suggestions for streamlining the traffic system.The meeting discussed various issues relating to streamlining of traffic system in Jammu City. These include identification of land for construction of multi storey parking slots, construction of dividers from Ambphalla chowk to Janipur, widening of roads and chowks of city and proper functioning of traffic lights.   

The Speaker directed the concerned authorities to ensure parking of matador at proper stops to pick and drop the passengers, saying that stoppage of matadors at any place is the main cause of traffic jams in Jammu city.Emphasizing on officers to improve traffic management in Jammu city, Mr. Gupta asked the officers to put in place efficient arrangement for the purpose. He also sought action taken report on measures taken in streamlining the traffic management within 15 days.The Speaker was informed that the administration has taken various steps to improve traffic system in Jammu city and process will be taken forward further for better results.Among others, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, IGP, Jammu, Commissioner, JMC, Chief Engineer, R&B and other senior officers of concerned department attended the meeting.
