Three militants have been killed in a firefight in Hajin area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.Official sources told Srinagar-based news agency GNS that following specific input about the presence of some foreign militants, the army’s 13 RR and police’s SOG cordoned off Khushipora village of Hajin on Thursday pre-dawn.As the searches were underway, the militant hiding in a residential house fired a volley of gunfire on forces, triggering off a gunfight, they said. The gunfight which raged throughout the day has left three militants dead while a residential house has also been damaged severely.A senior army officer while confirming the killing of three lashkar-e-Toiba militants in the gunfight said that the bodies of the slain have been recovered. “Three AK-47 rifles and one UBGL were recovered from the encounter site”.Deputy Inspector General (DIG) North Kashmir, Garib Dass told reporters that they were following these militants from past many days after receiving information about their presence in the day. The DIG further said that since last three months there has been active movement of foreign militants in Bandipora district. (GNS)
