JKLF calls for complete shutdown on 9th, 11th Feb

Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman, Muhammad Yaseen Malik Tuesday said that the legend of Shaheed Baba-I-Qoum Muhammad Maqbool Butt is a glorious chapter of our history. His struggle, passion and sacrifices will always remain beacon of light for Kashmiri Nation. Maqbool started his fight against illegal occupation and oppression as a loner but soon his struggle and sacrifices motivated the nation of Kashmir and brought a historic peoples revolution.

Treading upon his footprints another son of Kashmir Shaheed Muhammad Afzal Guru also kissed gallows for the sacred cause and became immortal. Kashmiri nation cannot forget these sacrifices and complete shutdown will be observed on 9th and 11th February 2016 to protest against these judicial killings, oppression and occupation.

A peaceful protest march will be held at Lal Chowk on 10th February 2016 demanding the mortal remains of both Maqbool Butt Shaheed and Muhammad Afzal Guru Shaheed. A memorial Program will be held at Trehgam Kupwara Kashmir on 11th February 2016 in connection with the 32nd martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed Muhammad Maqbool Butt. Programs will also be held across the globe in this connection.In a statement to KNS, chairman JKLF Muhammad Yasin Malik while addressing a meeting held at JKLF headquarters said that the struggle and martyrdom of father of Kashmiri nation martyr Mohammad Maqbool Butt is a glorious chapter of our history that will always guide us through the tough journey of freedom struggle. 

He said that Maqbool Butt started his struggle when everyone of us had given up or had in one or the other way shun the path of active resistance .He not only chose to fight but also chose the thorny way of struggle. He started as a loner and kissed gallows but soon his struggle and sacrifices motivated the nation of Kashmir and world saw Kashmiris starting a historical revolution for freedom in 1990.Mohammad Yasin Malik said that Maqbool is and will remain the shining notch of this nation and we will always keep treading the path shown by him.While remembering the sacrifice rendered by another Kashmiri Muhammad Afzal Guru., Yasin Malik said that Afzal also kissed gallows like Maqbool and became immortal as it is our belief that martyrs never die.He said that the way Maqbool sahib and Muhammad Afzal Guru were hanged by the Indians and the way their dead bodies and mortal remains are till date being held in prison and the way these martyrs are being denied a proper burial are glaring examples of Indian oppression and tyrannical attitude.He said that Kashmiris will never shun their demand for the mortal remains of these martyrs.

Announcing various programs in connection with the martyrdom anniversaries of farther of Kashmiri nation Muhammad Maqbool Butt and martyr Muhammad Afzal Guru, Yasin Malik said nation of Jammu Kashmir will observe complete protest shutdown on Tuesday 9th February 2016 (martyrdom day of Shaheed Mohammad Afzal Guru) and Thursday 11th February 2016 (martyrdom day of Shaheeed Baba-I-Quom Mohammad Maqbool Butt ). JKLF will organize a protest march at Lal Chowk on Wednesday, 10th February 2016 demanding the handover of the mortal remains of Shaheed Mohammad Maqbool Butt and Shaheed Mohammad Afzal Guru to Kashmiri nation.On Maqbool Day 11th February, a memorial program will also be held at the birth place of Shaheed Muhammad Maqbool butt Trehgam Kupwara.Also on the same day, Protest marches and sit-in will be held across the major cities of the world including Islamabad Pakistan, Lahore, and Karachi etc. Protest programs will also be held in USA, UK, Canada, Germany, Europe, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and other parts of the Middle East.JKLF London Branch will hold a protest rally in London on the occasion. JKLF will also hold demonstration across Azad Kashmir on 11th February 2016. Protest marches and sit-in will be held in cities like Muzafarbad, Kotli, Mirpur, Rawalakot, Bagh and Gilgit in which the vision and sacrifices of Shaheed Mohammad Maqbool Butt will be highlighted.
