District Development Commissioner Kathua Ramesh Kumar held a media interaction here at Kathua today.DDC briefed the media persons about the mega event “Pahal: Ek Kadam Naari Samman Ki Aur” organized under ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ campaign which is going to be launched by Divisional Commissioner Jammu Dr Pawan Kotwal on 3rd February 2016 at Sports Stadium Kathua. DDC informed that the campaign will be kick started with the launch of Jingle on ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ on the inaugural day i,e February 03 followed by cultural activities and signature campaign. He also disclosed that 19th of every month shall be celebrated as ‘Laadlii Diwas’ at every panchayat across the district.
Besides this medical teams for free check up of girls and pregnant women on ‘Laadli Diwas’, setting up of women helpline in district hospital where a gynecologist will be available from 10am to 12pm every Saturday and availability of ASHA worker from 10am-4pm on other week days, selection of ‘Girl of the Month’ at panchayat level and ‘Girl of the Month’ at every ward. Other initiatives like displaying of message stickers on vehicles at the time of registration of new vehicle and during routine checking shall be done by RTO office to disseminate the message will be taken up. Under corporate social responsibility Industries shall adopt gender critical villages. The installation of ‘Gudda Guddi Board’ displaying gender birth ratio month wise at District hospital, CHC and Sub-Centres. Youth and sports department shall organize special sports/athletic meet for girls at district and block level.
DC informed that during the 3-day event, Government departments will display their schemes and programmes. An interactive session with media persons was also held where DC also sought suggestions from media persons for maximum awareness especially in identified adverse sex ratio areas.DC said district administration will also focus on strict implementation of PC & PNDT Act, re-enrollment of dropout school girl child and child labour. ACR Atul Gupta, AC UT Rahul Yadav, District Information Officer Kathua Indu Jamwal, media persons from print and electronic media was also present in the meeting.
