At least 15 people of a religious minority community were wounded in an attack carried ou allegedly by Bangladesh Chhatra League men, student wing of the ruling Awami League at a village in Jessore district.Leaders of Hindu- Buddhist – Christian Oikko Parishad and Bangladesh Puja Udjapon Parishad, Jessore district unit in a joint press conference demanded continuous security towards the cobbler community at Parala village under Monirampur upazla in Jessore. The press conference was held at Jessore Press Club on Monday noon. Dipankar Das Ratan, general secretary, Bangladesh Puja Udjapon Parishad, Jessore district unit  read out the written statement in presence of Santohs Dutta, general secretary, Hindu- Buddhist – Christian Oikko Parishad, Jessore district unit and other leaders.The minority leaders in the press conference told that activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League led by of Durbadanga union unit convener of BCL Abu Sayeed and Ibrahim along with Rafiqul Islam, Khalil, Kabir Hossain, Mamun, Rocky Hossain, Hiro Hossain and Iqbal Hossain swooped on the cobbler cluster on January 30 wounding 15. 

They also damaged four houses and set two houses on fire. A temple was attacked by them. The minority leaders, in the press conference, demanded condensations to the victims and continuous security.The police arrested three of the accused after filing a case on Sunday, said Shafin Mahmud, assistant superintendent of police, Jessore.The main accused Abu Sayeed, convener, Durbadanga union council unit Bangladesh Chhatra League is still untouched, locals and the police said.Local lawmaker Swapan Bhattachariya, deputy commissioner Dr Humayun Kabir, superintendent of police, Jessore Anisur Rahman visited the spot on Sunday and assured the victim about taking strict steps against the culprits.Shafin Mahmud told 5 Dariya News that a case was lodged with the police station naming 15 and about 15 unnamed others for the attack. He, however, told that the police could not be able to arrest BCL leader Abu Sayeed.

Gobinda Das, a resident of the cobbler cluster told that armed terrorists led by BCL leader Abu Sayeed and Ibrahim attacked residents at the cobbler cluster at Durbadanga on Saturday as the protested stalking to three SSC examinees. ‘The miscreants set the residences of Mukunda Das, Nilpada Das and mine (Gobinda Das) on fire,’ he added.Gobinda Das also told that at least 15 people including Mukunda Das, Jitendra Das, Purnima Das, Sakali Rani, Adhir Das, Nilpada Das and he were wounded in the attack.Mimol Kumar, headmaster, Satgati Secondary School told that locals lodged a protest as some miscreants started to attack the three SSC examinees on way home from their school on Saturday. They did it as a meeting was held at the institution over stalking to the three. The miscreants them attack the cobbler cluster.
