Director Command Area Development Jammu, Mr. A.K. Malhotra today conducted an extensive tour of Rajouri and Poonch districts and held meetings with the officers to take stock of the developmental activities in these districts.Mr. Malhotra also reviewed the progress of training programme organized for preparation of District Irrigation Plan (DIP) under PMKSY Scheme and held detailed discussion on other allied issues pertaining to the functioning of the department in the twin districts. Chief Agriculture Officers of respective districts and all other officers of the department participated in the training programme. The objectives of PMKSY scheme were prominently highlighted and stress was laid on upgradation of irrigation facilities to the farmers to fulfill the objective of PMKSY Scheme Har Khet Ko Pani by assuring judicious use of water through Micro Irrigation System.
The Director said that District Irrigation Plan of each district is to be prepared jointly by providing Strategic Action Plan by various departments like Agriculture, Irrigation, IWMP, Forest, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry and others under convergence scheme. He further added that calculation of total water budget (including water for irrigation purpose, domestic and industrial purposes) shall be the overall objective of District Irrigation Plan. Template for formation of DIP provided by Govt. of India was discussed in length.Chief Agriculture Officer, CAD, Jammu gave power point presentation regarding overall view of PMKSY scheme. The training programme was concluded with healthy discussions among the officers with the hope that DIP of Rajouri and Poonch shall be completed within stipulated time.
