Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr Pawan Kotwal, Thursday presided  over the Republic Day Function organized by the Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam Welfare Society (VKWS) at its Primary School in Trikuta Nagar.Working President VKWS, Mrs Ruby Sharma, Vice President Mrs Kailash Gupta, Treasurer Prof. D.K. Gupta and other members of the Society, teachers and students were present on the occasion.The function started with the unfurling of National Flag by Dr Pawan Kotwal. The students of different schools run by VKWS presented various cultural items including dance, poetry and songs.Speaking the occasion, Divisional Commissioner educated the students about the importance of Republic Day and how Indian constitution came into being.

He complimented VKWS for providing quality education to the children belonging to the disadvantaged sections of the society. He also congratulated the organization in helping educate more than 10,000 students over the years. Dr Kotwal assured full support to VKWS in advancing the noble cause of imparting education to children belonging to the underprivileged sections of the society.Referring to the cultural items presented by the children on the occasion, Divisional Commissioner said that the confidence, exuberance, joy and patriotic spirit demonstrated by children in their performances today were highly commendable. He said the level of talent children possess, if encouraged can help in their overall development and growth.Deputy Secretary, VKWS Dr Raj Kumari presented the vote of thanks.
