National Cadet Corps has made a major mark at the grass root level: Kiren Rijiju

India’s future course of action will depend on today’s youth.

The Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju said that he is proud of the abilities, capabilities and discipline of the NCC cadets. He said that they represent various states, cultures and diversity and epitomize the motto of National Cadet Corps: Unity & Discipline. He was addressing at the Panorama Cultural Show, NCC Republic Camp-2016. He said that NCC has lived upto its mottoof NCC is ‘Unity & Discipline’as it strives to be and is one of the greatest cohesive forces of the nation, bringing together the youth hailing from different parts of the country and molding them into united, secular and disciplined citizens of the nation. He complimented them for their untiring efforts for reaching high standards and for their contribution in making the National Cadet Corps a cohesive and disciplined youth organization of our country.He said that India is already a great nation and is being recognized as a one of the raising countries interms of economic development. India isconsidered as a spiritual leader and a cultural center across the world, he added. He said that because of today’s youth, India is vibrant, attractive and moving towardsbecoming a great power. He further said that the Central Government has come up with many schemes / initiatives like Swachh Bharat Mission, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, but without the understanding and participation of young generation, it will remain just as slogans. He said that India’s future course of action will depend on today’s youth. 

This camp provides unique opportunities to NCC cadets to bring to the fore their qualities, he said. He called upon NCC cadets as future leaders to set a vision for themselves and direct appropriate efforts to translate their vision into reality.He also complimentedthem for the smart and crisp band display and very entertaining and enthralling cultural show.A number of competitions are conducted during the camp. All the 17 NCC Directorates compete for the prestigious Prime Minister’s Banner. The events encompass Army, Naval and Air wing related activities including drill, shooting, aero and ship modeling, line area, flag area and cultural competitions. Best girl and boy cadets from the senior and junior wings are also chosen at this camp. These cadets receive medals/trophies from the Prime Minister during his rally. In addition, the RM Padak and RM Commendation Cards were presented by the RM in the Investiture Ceremony during thevisit of RM on 21 Jan 2016. 

The NCC Republic Day Camp provides a unique opportunity to the cadets from different regions and states of our vast and diverse country to meet and interact with each other and further the cause of ‘national integration’. The NCC Republic Day Camp is held at the Garrison Parade Ground, Delhi Cantt every year in the month of January. This year, the Camp is being held from 31 December 2015 to 31 January 2016. A total of 2069 Cadets from all States and Union Territories will be attending the Camp. In addition approximately 12 officers and 91 cadets from friendly foreign countries would also be attending from 15 to 29 January 2016 as guests of NCC. The Camp is traditionally inaugurated by the Vice President of India will culminate in the Prime Minister’s Rally on 28 January 2016.
