Secretary Tourism interacts with officers

The secretary Tourism Farooq Ahmed shah while interacting with the officers of tourism department including the two Directors of Kashmir and Jammu Principals of IHM Srinagar ,FCI food  craft institute of Jammu and Leh and professor of Tourism management Riyaz Qureshi of Kashmir University stressed for development of innovative products to face the emerging trends in tourism and hospitality sector .The secretary was speaking on the subject of emerging trends in hospitality and tourism industry and assessment of opportunities in jk state policy planning and academic support for product and destination development .The secretary stressed for the need of assessment of skill development programmes in tourism industry and urged the related institutions to gear up for imparting quality skill development training to the youth for grooming them to cater to the emerging national and international markets in hospitality industry, Farooq Ahmed shah while giving details said that in skill development the Jammu FCI has been given the target of 2000 students ,IHM Srinagar has the target of 5000 while as Leh FCI has 300 target under the Hunnar Say Rozgaar scheme, this is apart from the diploma and graduate level courses.The secretary instructed the officials to de ise a programme short term course module for pony walas and other people related with travel trade who have direct communication and access to the tourist and their training and skill development will have a positive impact over the tourism industry of Jammu Kashmir .The secretary asked the officials to develop innovative products in rural tourism ,cultural tourism ,MICE and adventure Tourism and promote sufi circuits and pilgrimage destinations. Later while chairing the state level incentive committee meeting the secretary approved about 4.90 crores for 74 cases and urged for quick disposal of such  cases to encourage  new players and unemployed youth in the tourism industry.
