National Bank for Agriculture and rural development (NABARD) today organized a one day workshop for the promotion of credit linkage of Joint liability groups in which bankers, Business correspondents, NGOs and beneficiaries who have set up micro enterprises participated .ADDC Doda Er Nariender singh Bali was the chief guest on the occasion and Vice president Zonal Office J&k Bank Doda was the guest of honor.While addressing the gathering, the ADDC highlighted the role that NABARD can play in eradicating poverty from this back ward district. He assured all cooperation to Bankers and NABARD in their pursuit to uplift the masses from the vicious cycle of poverty and asked them to take steps to keep NPA to zero level. All the participants also pledged to repay their loan amount on time.
Earlier District Development Manager NABARD Rajesh Badyal presented the brief account of various livelihood Promotion Programme of NABARD for eradication of poverty. He in details explained the objectives of the various poverty eradication programmes which include to augment the flow of credit to landless farmers and farmers with small holdings and to provide food security to vulnerable section through enhanced agriculture production. He also lauded the efforts of NGOs in forming groups of poor people and banks in extending timely and hassle free credit to the beneficiaries and hoped for continuance of this spirit. He further informed the gathering that about 536 beneficiaries have so far set up income generation units in farm, nonfarm and off sectors in the District by availing the credit to the tune of Rs 2.69 crore from banks till December last year.
