The Animal Husbandry Department Poonch organized a day-long seminar on "Zoonotic Diseases" facing the livestock population and their relationship with human health hazards and sufferings.District Development Commissioner, Mohammad Harun Malik, Senior Superintendent of Police, J S Johar, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Dr. Mohammad Ismael, Assistant Veterinary Surgeons, Dr. Akiq Khan and Dr. Shahbaz Hussain besides district officers, Faculty of GDC, farmers, students and locals participated in the seminar.Welcoming the participants, the Chief Animal Husbandry Officer gave a detailed presentation on “Bird Flu” and highlighted the need to combat Zoonotic Diseases in livestock production and the importance to make the people aware of the hazards and to educate them on how to adopt good practices for protecting the producers and consumers from such diseases.Addressing the participants, the DDC stressed for organizing more such events to make the people aware. He appreciated the endeavors of Animal Husbandry Department in the district and emphasized upon the need to regularize such efforts to ensure prevention of Zoonotic Diseases.
