Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Dr. Asgar Samoon, convened a meeting today here to review the arrangements put in place for the smooth conduct of upcoming Republic Day celebrations in Kashmir division.Divisional Commissioner reviewed the arrangements regarding the main Republic Day function which will be held at Bakshi stadium, Srinagar.The Divisional Commissioner directed the security officials to maintain fool-proof security arrangements in and around the venue along the roads leading to the stadium. Various committees were also constituted to monitor and look after the preparations for Republic Day celebrations in the district.It was given out that full-rehearsal for the march-past and cultural programmes will be on January 24. It was also informed that 1380 students from various schools will also participate in the march-past and present cultural programmes.

The chief guest will unfurl the Tricolor and will take salute at the march-past parade. Contingents drawn from Army, CRPF, ITBP, J&K police, Fire & Emergency services, Home Guard, NCC and students from Government and Private educational institutions will participate in the March-past.Divisional Commissioner also reviewed arrangements for Republic Day in other districts with all Deputy Commissioners of Kashmir division, through video conferencing.Additional Commissioner, Kashmir, Mr. Nisar Hussain Wani, Deputy Commissioner  Srinagar, Mr. Farooq Ahmad Lone, besides officers from Army, J&K police, CRPF, PDD, UEED, SMC, Youth Services, J&K Sports Council, Cultural Academy, R&B, Floriculture, Department of Information, Fire & Emergency Services, SKIMS, Department of Health, J&K SRTC, PCR, Education were present in the meeting.
