People continued to throng in large numbers the Fairview residence at Gupkar as well as the hometown of Bijbehara today to offer condolences on the passing on of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, former Chief Minister.Several party leaders received the steady stream of mourners, who conveyed their sympathies to the bereaved family members in their hour of grief. Former Ministers, Parliamentarians, Legislators besides former Chief Secretary, Iqbal Khandey and Chairman, J&K Bank, Mushtaq Ahmad, were among various prominent figures to offer their condolences.Several delegations, representing trade and travel bodies, members of civil society, besides hordes of people from across the state also made a beeline at the Gupkar residence today to express solidarity with the bereaved family.
The Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana, Mohammad Mahmood Ali, had yesterday called on Member Parliament and PDP President, Mehbooba Mufti, at her residence and conveyed condolence on the demise of her father. He also expressed solidarity with the bereaved family members and prayed to Almighty Allah to grant the departed soul place in Jannat-ul-Firdous.Quran Khwani and special prayer meetings continued for the whole day today at the Srinagar residence of the visionary leader. Many people were seen sobbing while offering their tributes to their beloved leader.Pertinently congregational prayers (Fateha) of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed will be offered at 11.00 am at his final resting place, Dara Shikov Bagh, at Bijbehara on January 10 while as condolence meeting will be held on 2.00 pm at the Srinagar residence the same day.Meanwhile, Gurudwara Parbandak Committee District Pulwama expressed deep sorrow over the sad demise of Chief Minister, Mufti Muhammad Sayeed in a condolence meeting held in Tral. Sikh leader Jogindar Singh Shan on behalf of the committee expressed solidarity with the bereaved family and prayed for peace to the departed soul.Shan said contribution of Mufti Muhammad Sayeed to Jammu and Kashmir through long years of public service will always be remembered. Gurudwara Parbandak Committee conveyed their heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
PDP workers led by Sarpanch Gondhla Panchyat Sartaj Singh alias Laada held a meeting and condoled the sad demise of Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul. The participants including Deputy Sarpanch Sham Lal Chowdary recalled the exemplary role played by him in lifting the state on development front. Sartaj Singh said that Mufti Sahab was a legend who was keen to see India and Pakistan on the same page on every issue.Jammu Kashmir Pensioners Welfare Association expressed great grief and sorrow over the demise of Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed, describing the departed soul a visionary, who has done great work for the pensioners all across state.
Patron Pensioners Welfare Association Kashmir Ghulam Mohiuddin, President Sampat Prakash and senior vice president Talib Ghulam Hassan in a statement to CNS said that Mufti Muhammad Sayeed’s passing away has come a great shock to pensioners as well as the people of Jammu & Kashmir. “We the pensioners express our deep sorrow and anguish over the death of the departed leader and pray to Almighty to give sufficient strength to all the members of the deceased family including his daughter Mehbooba Sayeed and others to brave the loss with fortitude and courage”, Ghulam Mohiuddin said adding that Mufti Sahab was a people’s leader who always worked in the interest of pensioners.
