Manjit Singh condemn PDD for increased electricity bills

Former Minister and senior Congress leader on Wednesday appealed Power Development Department (PDD) to check the bills being send to the people in his constituency since they are much more against the actual use of electricity.“The PDD should check that many people have received bills having huge amount and it was injustice with the poor people who consume less power but are being forced to pay double bill,” Manjit Singh alleged.The Congress leader was speaking in a public meeting at ward number-3 of village Yogpur in Vijaypur constituency.Singh addressing the people in public meeting further alleged that many of the people in Vijaypur are poor and do work as labourers.“They are unable to pay such amount of bills which were increased in meter reading against the actual use of power,” he alleged, while quoting complaint of the people.Coming to the employment in industries, he said that local youths are ignored by the factories while outsiders are being engaged in higher posts.The posts which are offered to the locals are on contract bases but engaged as labourers not on higher posts as Manager or other posts.“The Government has been giving them concession in various areas and it was their moral responsibility to employee local educated unemployed youth instead of outsider,” he alleged.Welcoming the passing of Lokpall bill in Parliament, Manjit Singh said that it was the good step taken by the UPA Government led by Congress party in Center but they should also check the property of the politicians where from they have increased their assets.Prominent among those who were present on the occasion includes Sarpanch Sukhjinder Singh Polla, Sarpanch Damor, panch Baldev Raj, Panch Satvir Chouhan, Youth leader Chander Shaker Sharma, and others.
