The Speaker, J&K Legislative Assembly, Mubarak Gul said that agriculture is the backbone of state’s economy and government is taking many steps for its development. Gul was inaugurating agriculture fair organized by Department of Animal Husbandry in Goripora area of Eidgah constituency. He said that government has introduced many schemes for the benefits of farmers for their upliftment. He appealed them to come forward and avail the benefits of these schemes. He urged the farmers to work an extra mile to achieve self sufficiency not only in agriculture productions but also in vegetable cultivation, poultry and dairy production to strengthen the state’s economy.The Speaker said that establishment of a Vegetable Mandi in Eidgah suburbs is under active consideration of the government. He said that the government is strengthening the education infrastructure in Goripora and its adjoining areas by way of construction of more school buildings. Mr. Gul said that government has introduced many a schemes for education unemployed youth like SKEWPY, UDAAN and UMEED to overcome the unemployment problem in the state. Earlier, Mr. Gul inaugurated sports stadium at Goripora which has come up at a cost of Rs. 23 lakh. Later, the Speaker visited Gratabal area of Eidgah to take stock of arrangements being made for the rehabilitation of fire victims whose houses were damaged in the fire incident. He directed the district administration to arrange for blankets, utensils and other essentials from the Red Cross Fund for the fire victims. He assured them that government would take every possible step for their rehabilitation.
