Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar, Tuesday said that free winter tutorial classes started by the Department of Education for Class 10th and 12th students will continue after the winter vacations.“These tutorial centers will remain open throughout the year for students who want tuitions after their formal classes. Besides, the teachers will have to complete the syllabus by mid-year so that the students get ample time to prepare for their annual examinations,” Akhtar said. The Education Minister said some vested interests are spreading false information about the CM’s Super-50 initiative, which is meant to coach aspiring engineers and doctors for state and national level exams, and such elements will be dealt according to law.“Routine tuition classes for Class 10th and Class 12th will be available in all the districts of Jammu and Kashmir as per the demand. These classes will not be confined to winter but will remain open beyond 4 PM for the students even after winter vacations,” he said.Asserting that the schools in Jammu and Kashmir are moving towards the era of “no winter vacations”, the Minister said it is the responsibility of the teacher fraternity to deliver on the expectations generated by the reforms in the education sector.“Those teachers who stand up to this challenge will be suitably rewarded in the form of leave salary and other benefits,” he said.
