A female patient from South Kashmir’s Anantnag district was nearly left to die by doctors at Lalla Ded hospital after she was handed over an ‘erring’ report and provided wrong information that her abortion process was conducted successfully.Muzamil Banoo wife of Shafiq Rasool wani a resident of New Qazibagh Anantnag was admitted in LD hospital after she suffered a miscarriage (spontaneous termination of a foetus).My wife was treated by two lady doctors in the hospital. She was discharged after three days with a positive report that abortion process has been done successfully. After two day’s she developed pain. When I brought her to the hospital, these two lady doctors prescribed some medicine saying that there in nothing to worry,” Wani told CNS.
He added that the same day when her wife again developed severe pain, they admitted her in a private Nursing Home where a lady doctor informed them that no abortion has been done by the doctors at LD Hospital.
“The two doctors at LD not only showed negligence but also handed over a wrong report to us. They lied that abortion was done successfully done to the patient. We are from a poor family and we spend all but Rs forty thousand on the operation at private Nursing Home,” the husband of Muzamil Banoo said and alleged that Medical Superintendent LD Hospital behaved rudely with them when they brought the matter in his notice.“The Medical Superintendent LD did not listen to us. He categorically told us to do whatever we can do. As a last resort we approached police station Raj Bagh and filed a complaint against the doctors,” he said and appealed Health Minister Lal Singh to initiate action against the erring doctors and those who shield them.MS Lalla Ded Hospital Dr Mushatq Ahmed told CNS that such incidents do occur and it is not a serious matter while Minister for Health Lal Singh said that if proved strict action will be initiated against the doctors.
