Her Highness SheikhaJawaherbint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs and Chairperson of Sharjah Ladies Club (SLC), has promoted Nada Askar Al Naqbi, Head of the Executive Committee of AWST and Tournament Manager, to the post of Deputy Head of the Supreme Organising Committee for 3rd Arab Women Sports Tournament (AWST 2016).Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Haed of AWST's SupremeOrganising Committee, congratulated Al Naqbi on her promotion and wished her every success in her new role. He said the appointment is in recognition of her outstanding efforts and active contribution to women's sports as well as her competency in heading AWST's Executive Committee and the tournament management. Nada Al Naqbi expressed her pride in getting the promotion, pledging to do her best with the new, added responsibilities and living up to the expectations of HH SheikhaJawaherbint Mohammed Al Qasimi.
She added that together with the Organising Committee and tournament management, she will do her best to ensure that the third edition of AWST, taking place from 2 -12 February 2016, runs smoothly. She said, “Our primary goal is to honour Sharjah and the UAE by organising an exceptional event that lives up to the emirate’s prestigious reputation. We also have previous editions to live up to, which were very well organised. The countdown for AWST 2016 has already begun. We’ve stepped up our preparations to ensure that Sharjah is ready for this pan-Arab sporting event.”Nada Al Naqbihas held several posts in the sports field and has a great deal of experience. She has been instrumental in developing women's sports as the Manager of the Women's Sports Department since 2008 and has been serving as the Secretary General of the Sharjah Award for Sports Family since 2012. Since 2009 Nada Al Naqbihas been a member of the UAE Women's Sports Committee, and is Head of the Women's Committee at the Arab Karate Association.
Al Naqbi is also member of the Sharjah Tatweer Forum and was the head of the Public Relations Committee for the Torch of the Asian Games-Doha 2006.Al Naqbi has also been at the core of organisational roles and contributed to organising the "Gulf States Competitions" as general supervisor of all participating delegations in 2003. She then served as the head of Administrative Coordination Committee in 2005 before she became the tournament deputy manager in 2007. She was also a member of the organising team for the 13th Arab Club Basketball Championship in 2006.Al Naqbireceived several awards and accolades during her career. She received the medal of performance and excellence from HH SheikhaJawaherbint Mohammed Al Qasimi in 2012, and the Medal of Sharjah's Sports Leaders in 2012. Al Naqbi also received the SheikhaJawaher Al Qasimi Medal for Excellence during the Silver Jubilee of the Sharjah Ladies Club in 2004. She received the Cultural Distinction Cup Award for the category of Exemplary Club from the General Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare, and the HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Award for Women Athletes in 2013.
Nada also received SLC's Distinguished Sports Performance Award in 2010 by Sheikh Bodourbint Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Chairperson of the Sharjah ladies Club, the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Creative Sports Award in 2009 and the Sharjah Government's Outstanding Employee in March 2005.The AWST is hosted by Sharjah every two years under patronage of Her Highness SheikhaJawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, and Chairperson of Sharjah Ladies Club. It is a pan Arab women sports event sanctioned by the Council of Arab Ministers of Youth and Sports, organized by Women Sports Department and Sharjah Ladies Club in collaboration with the General Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare in the UAE, the UAE NOC, and Sharjah Sports Council.
