The Punjab Government has provided a big time relief to the trading community in the new year 2016 by making C-forms available online. The state excise and taxation department has completed all the necessary preparations in this regard and traders would not have to make the rounds of government offices to get these forms.Disclosing this, an official spokesman said the drive to make the C-forms available online would commence from S.A.S. Nagar from 15th January and the traders could download the same from the said date. It is mentioned here that Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal, who also holds excise and taxation portfolio, had instructed the department to make C-Forms online from January this during a meeting of the cabinet sub-committee on tax reforms held recently. It is also worth mentioning that filling of C-forms is mandatory for the traders and they were facing difficulties sometimes due to non-availability of forms.

Confirming the preparedness to make the C-forms available online, excise and taxation commissioner Mr. Anurag Verma said the demo-trials conducted by the department in this regard have yielded positive results. He also divulged that traders from SAS Nagar can download C-forms online by logging in their own accounts after January 15, adding he said the maximum consumption of C-Forms is in Ludhiana with S.A.S. Nagar coming second. The spokesman said the forms would be available for download in Ludhiana district from March while these would be available online throughout the state from April this. He informed that IT team of excise and taxation department had prepared a software concerning this and the online availability of this form would benefit around 2.50 lakh traders of the state. He added that online availability of getting C-forms would make the mechanism a transparent and non interactive besides preventing misuse of these forms.

He emphasized that the Punjab government is wholeheartedly committed to safeguard the interests of traders thereby several reliefs and measures were implemented in this regard. He also said the new year would bring a new phase in the business and industrial sector as the State government is framing unique initiatives to give impetus to the trade sector.
