Minister for PHE, I&FC, Sukhnandan Kumar, today sought cooperation of people in adopting novel methods to which promote judicious use of water.
He said small steps at household level will go a long way in better management of water resources for long-term sustainability. “It is the responsibility of every citizen to make efficacious use of water resources,” he urged. The Minister was addressing a gathering during an awareness camp on Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH), organised by Communication and Capacity Development Unit (CCDU) of PHE, I&FC Department, in collaboration with National Development Foundation (NDF).Minister of State for PHE, I&FC, Forest & Animal Husbandry, Abdul Majeed Padder, Vice Chairperson Pahari Advisory Board, Kuldeep Raj Gupta, MLA, Ravinder Raina, MLC, Vibodh Gupta, ADDC , Rajouri, Avtar Singh Chib, SSP, Rajouri, Rajeshwar Singh, Executive Director, CCDU, Rajiv Malhotra, CEO, NDF, Rajiv Khajuria, besides other senior officers of the PHE & and I&FC participated in the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Sukhnandan said that implementing water conservation and management strategies into our daily lifestyle will inculcate values which promote judicious use of water. He sought support of various stakeholders like education institutions and NGOs in propagating methods of water conservation methods.Referring to the activities of CCDU, the Minister said it has been set up to educate masses about how best one of the basic amenities can be used in day-to-day life. He urged people to actively participate in such awareness programmes which promote judicious use of water. “Various departments will have to coordinate to push up the campaign at the grass roots’ level to achieve better results,” he stated.During the programme, people were made aware about the various modern ways of water conservation and management. A cultural programme disseminating information, regarding various methods of water conservation was also presented on the occasion.En route Rajouri, the Minister inspected the construction of Gravity Feeder Channel, for Lift Irrigation Scheme at Rajal. While inspecting the work, the Minister impressed upon the executive agencies to expedite the pace of work and remove bottlenecks.
