The Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh today called for devising a comprehensive roadmap for effective utilization of funds earmarked under PM’s reconstruction plan for improving and augmenting electric infrastructure in J&K.The Deputy Chief Minister was addressing officers during a series of review meetings of the PDD here today. Commissioner/Secretary PDD, Mr Dheeraj Gupta, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr Pawan Kotwal, Deputy Commissioners of Jammu, Reasi, Kathua, Samba,  Rajouri, Pulwama, Development Commissioner Power, Secretary Technical  Power, Chief Engineers and other senior officers were present in the meeting.

Referring to the recently announced package by the Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi, the Deputy Chief Minister said it is very comprehensive in nature and would further accelerate the pace of development in J&K. He said Rs 11000 crore have been earmarked for augmentation and up-gradation of electric infrastructure in the J&K under the PM’s reconstruction plan.  “Now the onus lies on us to ensure that this money is utilized in a transparent and effective manner so that the people get benefited from these developmental initiatives,” he said.

The Deputy Chief Minister directed the officers to work in close coordination and convene periodic meetings so that the schemes being undertaken for improving the electrical infra in the State are completed in a time bound manner and the people get benefited from these schemes.Dr Singh also asked the officers to ensure speedy execution of various schemes already undertaken in the sector. He said the targets should be fixed so that the same are completed within the shortest possible time.The Deputy Chief Minister also directed the officers to speed up the work on RAPDRP and asked them to maintain close coordination with the IRCON authorities by holding regular meetings after every fortnight, to expedite the execution of the scheme. He also called expediting procurement of the material while strictly maintaining the codal formalities.

The meeting was told that 150 schemes under T&D sector are already under execution in the State.The Deputy Chief Minister also reviewed the pace of work on the Jallandhar-Samba-Amargarh transmission line being executed by Sterlite.Dr Singh directed the officers to ensure that the project is completed within the stipulated time frame so that the people of the State get benefited from it. He said the requisite help in the matters of Revenue and other related things should be provided to the executing agency so that this prestigious transmission line gets completed which would go a long way in addressing the power related problems.
