Wamiq Farooq case transferred to another court

The Additional District and Session Judge Sham Lal Lalhal Tuesday transferred the much publicized Wamiq Farooq case to the court of Principal District and Session Judge Rashid Ali Dar, who is likely to hear the case on the next hearing listed on December 31.On Tuesday when the case came up for the hearing in the court of Additional District and Session Judge (ADSJ), Counsel for the complainant Advocate Ajaz Ahmed Dar sought discussion on whether the accused cops already in judicial custody should be charged under section 302 or not. The court directed the Counsel to start a discussion on the interim bail plea of the accused cops.

Without having any discussion the court ordered the transfer of the case to the court of Principal District and Session Judge Rashid Ali Dar. The case has been listed for the next hearing on December 31.Shortly after the court proceedings were over, the complainant Farooq Ahmed staged a protest in the court premises and burnt down the papers related to the case. He alleged that court has already made up its mind to grant bail to the accused cops. Wamiq, a class 7 student, was killed after a teargas shell fired allegedly by police hit him on the head near Gani Memorial Stadium at Rajouri Kadal Srinagar on January 31, 2010.The accused cops ASI Abdul Khaliq and constable Muhammad Akram are facing charges of ‘culpable homicide not amounting to murder’.
