Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare Asiea Naqash has expressed shock and grief over tragic fire incident that occurred near Nehru Park in Dal Lake yesterday damaging two houseboats. The Minister assured that the government will explore every possibility to provide necessary relief to owners of these houseboats besides making sure that they get permission for reconstruction of their gutted property. She said that the State Forest Corporation would be asked to provide timber to these houseboat owners on subsided rates so that they can start the reconstruction of their houseboats. She also assured that all efforts would be done to further strengthen fire-fighting mechanism in Dal lake and other alike locations. Meanwhile, the Minister asked the concern to ascertain the reasons behind this mishap so that necessary remedial measures could be initiated to avoid any such incident in future.
