Sharjah based cultural project Knowledge without Borders (KWB) has announced thecompletion of its preparations for the second part of the 13th and final phase of its project to distribute 250,000 books to 5000 Emirati families in Sharjah.Rashid Al Kous, General Manager of KWB expressed his gratitude for the continued support of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah. He said, “KWB has achieved great milestones in fulfilling its mission to make reading an integral part of the lifestyle of all Emiratis from different agegroups and background by providing them with a home library consisting of 50 books from different genres.”
Al Kous added, "As the world celebrates World Arabic Language Day, a language that forms the basis of our identity and is the source of Arab-Islamic civilization, we are pleased to announce the completion of preparations for distributing 250,000 books among 5000 Emirati families in Sharjah. This completes the 13th and final phase which was launched in January 2015.”Since its launch in 2008, KWB’s home library initiative, which targetsEmirati families in Sharjah, has managed to distribute over one million book among 20,000 families, with an average of 50 books per family.Knowledge without Borders was launched as an initiative by His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and is supervised and supported by SheikhaBodourbint Sultan Al Qasimi, Head of the Organizing Committee of KWB. The initiative aims at establishing reading as a noble habit in every household in the UAE, by encouraging the establishment of home libraries, and supplying these libraries with best reads in various domains suitable for the entire family.
