Poorav Sainik Seva Parishad and Ex-servicemen Kalayankari Sangathan Udhampur organised a function to celebrate “Vijay Diwas” at Shardhanjli Sthal Udhampur,here today.A large number of civil dignitaries, ex- servicemen and service personnel participated in the celebrations and paid homage to the martyrs, who laid down their lives in various wars.Minister of State for Finance and Information Technology, Mr. Pawan Kumar Gupta who was also present on the occasion paid floral tributes to the martyrs.Speaking on the occasion, Minister appreciated the efforts of organization for remembering the sacrifices of heroes of the district.
He said on 16th December each year, ‘Vijay Diwas’ is celebrated to commemorate the victory of 1971 war and pay homage to the soldiers who laid down lives for the nation. District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary also paid floral tributes to the Martyrs.President, Akhil Bhartiya Poorva Seva Parishad Udhampur, Major Umakant Sharma, prominent citizens and family members of the martyr also paid floral tributes to the departed souls. During the programme school children sang the chorus of bravery and sacrifices of Army.Citizens of Udhampur, large number of ex-servicemen, Veer naaris, school children and prominent citizens of the town were present on the occasion.
