Minister for Industries & Commerce, Chander Prakash Ganga today said that decision for implementing National Food Security Act (NFSA) in Jammu and Kashmir is a historic step by the State Government which would go a long way in benefiting the needy and ensure food security to all sections of the society. Highlighting the importance of NFSA, the Minister said this is a highly people-friendly Act targeted to benefit poor, marginalised and deprived sections of the society. “Poor families will be provided highly subsidised ration (Atta) at Rs 2 per kg and (Rice) Rs 3 per kg”, he added.The Minister said this after launching developmental works worth Rs. 12 lakh at Dholian, Kadgal in Bari Brahmana and in ward no 5-6 of Vijaypur today.He said BJP-PDP Government is determined to address basic issues of the people under a well-knit strategy devised.The development is the only mantra of the Government and a focused attention is being accorded on creating a sustainable infrastructure in all essential sectors to enhance the efficacy of services, he asserted.Mr. Ganga directed the concerned officers to maintain the quality of works strictly as per the specifications laid down by the Government and keeping a close vigil to monitor the progress of works. 

He warned strict action against any lapse on account of poor quality.To augment the supply of drinking water at Dholian, the Minister directed the PHE department to construct an overhead tank in the area. Responding to the problems of the residents of Kadgal, he said the provision of solar lights will be made for the poor families. He also assured to take up the issue of upgradation of the ESI dispensary in Bari Brahmana industrial area with the concerned quarters to cater to the increased work load of patients.In order to ease the traffic congestion in Vijaypur town, he assured to upgrade the circular road on priority.The Minister called upon the people to extend cooperation to the Government for ensuring the overall development of their area. He said Government will fix priority for execution of works strictly in consultation with local people, PRI members so that the assets so created prove useful for the people. He also called upon the people to guard the public assets treating them their own property, adding that Government’s only duty is to create facilities but it is the public who have to take care of these after their completion, said Mr. Ganga.Sectoral officers of various departments also accompanied the Minister.
