Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) General Secretary Nizamudin Bhat has expressed satisfaction over the concern and subsequent arrangements from administration to ensure smooth supply of essential commodities in valley.In a statement to KNS, Bhat said that since several roads have blocked and weather has deteriorated people in far flung areas need to be facilitated to cope with winter woes.He said administration has committed itself to full stock and supply of gas, ration, kerosene as also the drinking water and electricity. It is also committed to vigilance against hoarding and rise in prices in case of blockades caused by weather.Bhat said while there are favorable reports from remote areas and towns and cities on supplies, declining power position is worrying for consumers across the valley.
Bhat also said that R&B and Rural Development Departments have to do additional exercise to ensure that inter district and internal roads remain open in case of snow fall or slides.He said PHE agencies also need to be alerted for uninterrupted water supply.Bhat demanded that emergency Departments including Health be directed to take timely steps to keep necessary tools and man power available to meet eventual requirements. He said that government should take a thorough review of measures in offing and support mechanism to provide necessary amenities to people in general on day to day basis without any fail.He said in the entire scheme of smooth delivery the National Highway and air traffic assumes significance. Bhat said that government has to pre-empt any deliberate failure or negligence on this. (KNS)
