A meeting of Department Related Standing Committee (DRSC-III) of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council was held today under the chairmanship of Mr. Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo to review functioning of School Education Department in Jammu division.Legislators, Mr. Showkat Hussain Ganai, Mr. Sham Lal Bhagat and Mr. Surinder Ambardar attended the meeting. During the meeting extensive discussion was held on various issues including centrally and state sponsored schemes under implementation in the School Education Department.Commissioner Secretary, School Education, Mr. Shaleen Kabra, briefed the Committee about achievements and initiatives of the department.During the meeting status and achievements under various centrally sponsored schemes including RMSA, SSA and Saakshar Bharat Mission (SBM) were discussed in detail.
Secretary BOSE, Mrs Veena Pandita, gave a brief with regard to various achievements of Board of School Education. She informed the meeting that BOSE introduced initiatives like declaration of results through SMS and voice mail and availability of marks cards on Internet or Website.During the meeting other issues including action against Government schools which have shown poor performance in Board results, criteria of in-service teachers/masters promoted as Lecturers, upgradation and creation of new schools, mid-day meals and e-tendering for procurement were also discussed.Among others, State Project Director RMSA/SSA Mr. Saugat Biswas, Director School Education Jammu Mrs. Smita Sethi and all Chief Education Officers of the Jammu division besides Secretary Legislative Council, Mr. Abdul Majid Bhat were present in the meeting.
