Hundreds of aspiring Female and Male Multi Purpose Health Workers of State feel dejected as Jammu and Kashmir State Service Selection Board (SSB) has fixed the 10+2 and diploma as criteria for the submitting the application form for these posts. Most of aspirants who have simply done these courses after the matriculation said they feel “cheated as these courses are conducted by State’s Health department after the matriculation”. “What is more worrying is that the basic qualification required for many posts is not in tandem with the courses taught in the state universities and other academic institutions,” the aspirants told Srinagar based news agency Global News Service (GNS) here.

The SSB vide notification No 07 of 2015 dated 2-12-2015 invited applications for the post of FMPHW and MMPHW in the Health and Medical Education Department with qualification as 10+2 with diploma. It has, however, deprived hundreds of para-medical students from various professional institutions from applying for the posts owing to different basic qualification fixed for the post.“JKSSB have changed the old pattern of the criteria which is not making sense when we have done it after matriculation and institutes also offer these courses after matriculation what we do now should we plough the fields now” said Aijaz Ahmad, an aspirant.

The new job notifications issued by SSB has drawn flak from large number of aspirants of the state. According the aspirants, the SSB must revisit the eligibility criterion and make it in accordance with the courses taught in the State academic institutions.“The government should frame the employment policy in accordance with the courses taught in the State. What is the fun of fixing 12+ and diploma as eligibility when we have done these courses after matriculation,” they said. A senior officer from health and medical department admitted the error and said that the department will take up the issue with SSB and rectified the edibility criteria. When contacted, Secretary SSB Shabir Raina told GNS that the board has taken up the issue with health and medical education and the necessary action in this regard will be taken with next two days.“The candidates need not to worry. We have already taken up the matter with the health and medical education department and necessary correction will be done within day or two,” he said.  (GNS)
