Minister for Health and Medical Education, ARI and Trainings Choudhary Lal Singh has stressed on effective implementation of National Health Mission (NHM) for achieving the envisaged goals under the scheme.The Minister said this while taking a review of the achievements registered under the National Health Mission in the division. The Minister was apprised that about 155 children in the age group of 0-18 years suffering from various ailments which included 79 cases of Congenital Heart Diseases, 61 Hearing Impairment, 05 Club foot, 04 Cleft Lip and Palate, 02 DDH, 02 Developmental Delay, 01 Congenital Cataract and 01 CSOM were provided financial support for their treatment (including Surgical Interventions) on fast track basis under Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakaram (RBSK) programme under National Health Mission (NHM) from April to November, 2015.It was given out in the meeting that the programme is being implanted in all the districts of the State with a target to ensure screening of children upto 18 years .Under the scheme, children are being screened for 30 common ailments/health conditions so that there is the possibility of early medical intervention in case there is such a need.
The Minister stressed that the focus should be on generating mass awareness about the scheme and ensuring facilities to provide better healthcare and improve the quality of life of children through early detection of birth defects, diseases, deficiencies, development delays including disability under the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK).Choudhary Lal Singh said that the mobile health teams being constituted in all the medical blocks of the State for screening of children should perform their duties efficiently. He also stressed that the newborn children should be screened for possible birth defects in health centers and by ASHAs upto 6 weeks during home visits.
