Appreciating the meeting of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif in Paris followed by Indo-Pak NSAs meet on Sunday in Bangkok, CPI (M) leader and MLA Kulgam Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami has hoped the two neighbouring countries will work together to make dialogue process interruptible. In a statement to CNS, Tarigami urged the leadership of India and Pakistan to address the requirements of the future rather than focussing on the hangover of the past. He said that there is a dire need of constructive engagement that can reduce the level of mistrust in both countries.
The CPI (M) leader observed that the hostility and animosity had been inculcated in young minds in both countries and the leaderships of both the countries must now decide to make a break with the past and enter a new era of peace, political stability and prosperity in the region. He suggested that the dialogue process between the two estranged neighbours can remain uninterrupted only if it is not held hostage to domestic politics. “Both the countries should decide that it was time to change the environment, the narrative and the mindset and to start investing in friendship, trust-building and serious mature relations with each other rather than investing in hostility and animosity which has always resulted into disastrous consequences for the people of the two countries especially in Jammu and Kashmir.” (CNS)
