Senior People Democratic Party leaders and MPs Muzaffar Hussain Baig and Tariq Hamid Karra have held a closed door meeting on Saturday evening at Kashmir House in New Delhi.Sources told KNS that the two leaders met at 5.45 pm on Saturday at Kashmir House where they discussed political issues of the state and the internal situation of their party.“The two leaders met for nearly two hours and discussed political situation of the state after the PDP formed coalition government with BJP. The issues arising out within the party were also discussed. The speculation about Mehbooba Mufti succeeding her father, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, as chief minister was also discussed,” sources told KNS, adding, the political situation of the state after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally was also discussed.

Both these leaders are disgruntled with their party after the PDP stitched alliance with BJP.“The two leaders were of the view that alliance with BJP is proving detrimental to PDP which will have serious impact on the party in future in the state, particularly in Kashmir region. The felt that BJP is dominating most of the decision making in the government,” sources said.Sources said that the two leaders have also met twice in Kashmir before Saturday’s meeting. While Karra has vehemently opposed the party’s alliance with BJP after its formation and asked the PDP leadership to snap ties with BJP, Baig has pointed out failure of the alliance in working as per the ‘Agenda of Alliance’.

Karra, the former finance minister, who is the member of the Coordination Committee of the PDP-BJP alliance, has not attended any meeting of the committee till now, and he has also stayed away from the party functions.Former deputy chief minister and one of the founding members of PDP, Baig, though, has largely remained silent yet he has critisised the coalition for not following the ‘Agenda of Alliance’.Confirming about their meeting, Baig told KNS that “we discussed the present political situation”.Karra also confirmed to KNS about the meeting. “We are senior leaders, and, obviously, we won’t discuss weather.”The PDP leadership has been tight-lipped about the two leaders, despite their tirade against their party. “In democracy everyone has a right for his viewpoint. Both are senior leaders,” CM Mufti has said in Jammu recently when asked about them. (KNS)
